Artrophy
We are Bhuddi and Kupu. Turning disability into possibility. Seeing beyond disability and turning it into possibility. Fromm the lens to the canvas and beyond. We create vibrant and playful paintings meant to evoke feelings of innocence and wonder. Visual challenges of perception and colour transform what the heart and mind see. Dynamic colours, shapes, and patterns uncover the sights familiar yet somehow unseen. Art brings inner peace uncovering stillness amongst chaos. Life’s detours led us here, are will guide our way.

Their Story
Turning disability into possibility
Artrophy, a collaborative visual arts team, derives its name from a play on words. By tweaking the term "atrophy," commonly associated with wasting away, a new definition emerges—one that embodies vision, creation, and evolution.
The artist behind Artrophy was born with Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy, an inherited optic nerve disorder causing vision loss and color vision defects. Unaware of their visual challenges in their early years, it wasn't until later that they realized their perception differed from others. However, Artrophy's story extends beyond personal experiences, encompassing a shared reality between the artist and their partner, Kupu.
Together, they embark on a creative journey, beginning with photographs that undergo meticulous edits. When the timing feels right, the canvas becomes their artistic playground. Kupu, not only the artist's wife but also their eyes and driving force, adds her unique touches to each creation. The result is a harmonious collaboration—a fusion of two halves forming a captivating whole.
Artrophy, represented by Bhuddi and Kupu, extends far beyond surface-level narratives. If their story has sparked your curiosity, join them on their unfolding journey—a voyage that promises to transport you to unexpected places, unimagined by both the artists and their audience.
